Make A Will Week May 17 to 23, 2010 The Peterborough Estate Planning Council is an organization of local estate planning professionals. The members recognize that an up-to-date Will is a crucial part of the planning process, and so are sponsoring Make A Will Week from May 17 - 23, 2010. The Peterborough Law Association also acknowledges the importance of a Will, and is encouraging its lawyers to provide free Will reviews throughout Make A Will Week.
If someone
dies without a valid Will, it is government legislation that determines who
inherits and a court process is required to administer the estate.
Parents lose their only legal opportunity to appoint a guardian for their minor
children, leaving it up to the court to decide without their input.
Family beneficiaries have less protection for their inheritances against claims
by a divorcing in-law. All of these concerns and more can be addressed
with a proper Will.
You can
